EXERGY AT IGC TURKEY - THE CONGRESS IN THE GEOTHERMAL HEART OF TURKEY IN IZMIR

More than 150 participants registered, Turkish and international geothermal experts, panel discussions, field trips and much more. IGC-Turkey 2016 is set to be one of the most important gathering for the local geothermal sector in 2016, taking place from the 6th to the 8th of June in Izmir, Swissôtel Büyük Efes İzmir.

Turkey has seen a great increase of its geothermal power generation capacity in the last years, from 30 MW in 2008 to currently 648 MW, arriving directly into the top 10 geothermal countries in the world. In January 2016 the country registered a total of 21 geothermal power plants in operation, additional 96 MW in construction and 430 MW from planned projects. Turkey is therefore already setting the pace in geothermal energy exploitation with about 1,200 drilled wells for direct use and power generation, of which 300 recently drilled only for geothermal projects. Energy demand in Turkey has also been growing as fast as its energy potential, from 1,485 kWh/capita in 2002 to 3,429 kWh of 2016 and it is expected to increase up to 6,000 kWh by 2030.

The conference will focus on this continuous evolving scenario, discussing how Turkey has developed until today and which strategies it will follow in the coming years.

EXERGY will open the conference on day 6th June from 11.00 am to 13 am  with a visit to its turbine manufacturing and service facilities in Izmir, Kemalpasa. A unique opportunity to learn how a local ORC market leader operates inside the Turkish market.

In the afternoon the conference will host the workshop of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, highlighting recent developments in geothermal energy and geothermal energy financing. On Day 7th June the conference attendees will have the opportunity to discuss updates and insights on the latest developments in geothermal technologies, reservoir management, operations and exploration. In the evening the social evening event of the EXERGY Opening Lounge will provide an excellent opportunity to mingle.

EXERGY is proud to attend the conference as ORC market leader and share its knowledge with other attending experts directly in Izmir, the heart of geothermal exploitation in Turkey.
