EXERGY bursts in the Chinese market

EXERGY recently achieved another major milestone providing a 1 MW heat recovery plant from a steel mill for one of China’s main service and machinery company’s, Xi’an Shaangu Power Co. Ltd. This is a great success for our team that has entered into the rapidly evolving Chinese energy market with our innovative technology.

The plant, delivered in 9 months, will be located in Yancheng, Xi'An province and thanks to EXERGY’s Radial Outflow Turbine technology it will help to save about 1499 tons of oil equivalents each year. One step further towards the new energy balance the country is aiming for.

In the last 10 years China has been one of the main global investors in renewables with a constant growth from 8.3 billion USD invested in 2005 to 102.9 billion USD invested in 2015.

The country is boosting all its available renewable resources, from wind to solar and geothermal; at the end of 2015 the installed photovoltaic solar capacity stood at about 43 GW, the total wind capacity at 130 GW, and by 2020 geothermal power is predicted to account for 1.5% of the country’s total energy consumption.

In recent months the Chinese government announced the intention to enhance the development of geothermal power in the next five years in order to reduce coal consumption and improve air quality, especially in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

After this first step in the local market, in 2017 EXERGY aims to  strengthen its presence in the country.
