Concentrated Solar Power systems
Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) harnesses the sun’s thermal energy using mirrors or lenses that focus sunlight onto a receiver, converting it into heat. This heat is then used to generate steam, which drives a turbine to produce clean electricity efficiently. CSP also enables energy storage for use when sunlight is unavailable.
Exergy’s Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology enhances CSP systems by converting solar thermal energy into electricity with greater efficiency. By enabling the use of low-cost reflectors such as Fresnel or parabolic troughs and eliminating water usage, Exergy’s ORC Technology makes CSP systems more economical and adaptable for diverse applications.
USE SOLAR ENERGY SUSTAINABLY WITH CSP PLANTS
Exergy is unique in offering the highly efficient Radial Outflow Turbine for these applications. The Exergy solution for solar power generation uses the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) coupled with a Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) system. This solution has many advantages, including:
1
HIGHER FLEXIBILITY THAN TRADITIONAL STEAM RANKINE CYCLES
2
THE ABILITY TO PRODUCE ELECTRICITY FROM A LOWER TEMPERATURE HEAT SOURCE
3
THE POSSIBILITY OF BUILDING A SMALL INSTALLATION (<1MWE) WITH THE OPTION TO SCALE UP IN THE FUTURE
4
LOWER SET-UP COSTS FOR THE ORC AND SOLAR PANELS
5
SIMPLE OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE
6
REMOTE CONTROL OF THE ORC UNIT
7
A STRAIGHTFORWARD AUTHORIZATION AND PERMISSION PROCESS
