EXERGY, in collaboration with Area Impianti, has developed a solution to recover thermal energy from the fumes of a waste incinerator. The ORC system designed by EXERGY for the final customer, SIBRECSA, includes a Radial Outflow Turbine and an air-cooled condenser. This innovative system utilizes superheated water at medium enthalpy as the heat transfer fluid for the ORC system. Additionally, it operates efficiently within a circular economy model, reducing reliance on fossil fuel-generated energy and its associated environmental impact. The plant will save 2,000 tons of scope 2 CO2 annually—equivalent to the electricity consumption of 389 homes.
The compact and efficient layout, designed for an indoor installation, not only enhances sustainability but also ensures minimal visual impact and low maintenance and operating costs.
